Our Plant & Rummage sale was a great success in more ways than one. This is our one fund raiser for the year, and we made over $4000.00. Additionally, we had an information table to talk about “what is the Grange”. Jill Drew did a great job handing out many membership applications on the first day of the sale and Debbie Hanlon did the same on Sunday. Inside where the rummage sale was happening the buyers were very interested in the origins of the Grange Hall and also of the Grange itself. We were very fortunate to have been given handmade quilted wall hangings and table runners that sold at high prices.
We are donating the unsold ones to be sold at the Grange Building at the Big E. We are donating the unsold plants to Produce 2 The People based in Cornwall and they in turn provide fresh produce to people in need.
Another way our sale was a success is that we also pulled out all the “G Notes”. We voted at our June meeting to donate the $26 G notes from the sale to the State Grange, adding to the 60 we already have collected for a total of $85 so far. Heather Matthews stopped by our sale and picked up the donation to her Roving Clover library bus. She thanked us for doing this each year. These books are given out (free) at the many events she attends during the summer when school is not in session. We hope you attended our Square and Contra Dance on August 2nd. If you did not attend, then you have one more opportunity on the first
Saturday in November.
