June 16: Makers’ Sunday; 1:00 – 4:00 PM

Riverton Grange met on May 3rd for our regular monthly meeting, both virtually and in person. It was so nice to welcome back our Pianist Mary Lou Keefe, along with brother Peter Keefe. The Lecturer’s Program was provided by Brother Tim Sweeney, Commander of Riverton American Legion Post #159, and focused on trains and their impact on northwestern Connecticut. Project Amazon continues to help our Grange engage in community events. We are working with the Riverton Merchants Association and the new Shops at Riverton Marketplace on some future collaborations.

Eagle Scout candidate Adon Burrell was thanked for his awesome used American Flag collection box which he and other scouts constructed as his Eagle Scout project for Riverton Grange. A ribbon-cutting ceremony for this new collection box was held following the May 5th Veteran of the Month ceremony.

Our next Veteran of the Month ceremony will be held on Sunday, June 2nd, at 6:00 PM at the Barkhamsted Senior Center, 109 West River Road. This event is primarily indoors, refreshments are served, and it is open to the public; so experience one of these awesome events honoring our veterans. We were so pleased to recently learn that this project is spotlighted on the National Grange website on new program ideas.
