Mar News from Ekonk Community Grange No. 89

By Jaimie Cameron

  MARCH 4, 2024 --

We have continued to support many families in our town with food donations bi-weekly or monthly. This has become a continuous project for the last few years. It’s that time of year when our dinners start up, and we have a large following that requests the supper dates list just after the start of the new year. We have a hard working kitchen crew under the direction of Verna Cole & Betsy Molodich.

In December we had 5 members receiving years of service awards. Betsy Chamberland 45 years & Doris Desjardins 75 years were presented their awards in person by Jaimie Cameron, President. Also receiving awards were Amos Cornell, 50 years; Bruce Lindberg, 65 years; & Ruth Rosebrooks, 80 years.

We are starting to plan some member & families outings. Ideas that have been presented were Baseball game, Zoo, Lighthouse tour cruise. Hopefully we can come up with a couple of dates to fit at least one of these activities.

This year has gotten off to a rocky start with weather issues and members being ill and not making it to meetings but we are looking to better days. We are also saddened by the loss of our Grange member Rick Hermonot who passed unexpectedly on Feb. 23, 2024. Our sympathy to his family and all that knew him. Rick was an asset to the Grange and will be sadly missed.
