| DECEMBER 1, 2023 -- April 2024 will be here before we know it, so it’s not too soon to be thinking about what your Grange will be doing to celebrate and begin the planning process.
Community Granges are encouraged to participate in the month- long celebration by opening their doors to the public for family-oriented events and activities focused on the contributions of the Grange in their communities. Granges will often celebrate Grange Month with open houses, lectures and pro- grams, citizens’ awards, service projects, community displays, traditional pot-luck suppers and more. National Grange will release their packets in February or March.
Think outside the box when planning your Grange Month activities. Try something new and different. Or reinvent an old popular Grange event. Perhaps your Grange once hosted a Dairy Dinner or a Spaghetti Supper that was standing room only in its day. Or participated in a community service project that was well-received in the town, like cleaning the local cemetery or collecting cans and bottles. Members have fond memories of these past activities and events where they volunteered their time or attended and supported the organization. Why not take a look back, find something that worked for your Grange, and then host a new and improved “today” version of an event from the past!
Planning, implementation and execution are important. A good place to start once your Grange has decided on an event or project is to establish a timeline and post it for all involved to follow. Note import- ant dates along the way, and do not miss them.
Grange Events should be memorable, make an impact, and offer a unique opportunity for the public to see your Grange up close and first hand. Events draw people into your hall and showcase what your Grange is all about - as a local organization, as well as a national organization.
