Around The Grange
Oct News from Beacon Valley Grange No. 103

By Joanne Cipriano

  OCTOBER 11, 2023 --

I will start off this column by the way I ended last month by thanking the members for all their help in my absence. I have now missed two meeting in a row, something I don’t recall ever doing. Special thanks to Ron Gunther for taking over as Master and Pat and Ron Fischer for seeing that the hall was opened and securely closed.

Community Service Chairman Jean Meehan collected a truck load of child’s riding cars and scooters and two boxes of supplies that were delivered to Tender Year’s preschool by Tim Meehan. The cars were a donation of Marilyn Maxwell.

Our monthly tag sales (the third Saturday of each month) continue to be profitable thanks to Pat and Ron Fischer, Marie Sousa and Bob Sendewicz. Donations are always appreciated.

Attendance and participation at Open Mic continues to grow. Ron Fischer serves as emcee. This is a full day at BVG with the Tag Sale from 9 to 3 and Open Mic from 2 to 5.

Our October meeting is on the 14th. Program “Ornamental Corn” Carol Brooks in charge with refreshments served by Maria Sousa.

With sadness we report the passing of Florine Wheeler. Florine was an 82 year member. She joined Prospect Grange in 1941 and became a member of Beacon Valley Grange when they merged with us. Though not an active member, a Prospect she was very active and generous. Her legend will live on.
