Around The Grange
Sep News from Senexet Grange No. 40

By Diane Miller

  SEPTEMBER 20, 2023 --

Sept: 27: Regular Meeting 6PM.

Sept 23: Booth at Celebrating Ag.

We have been very active in the last month. We held our annual  Grange  fair  on  August

5 with many entries. We had a breakfast also on that morning. This event was in coordination with the Locally Grown Day event in Woodstock. Many farmers hosted programs at their farms. This was a very popular source to get the surrounding community to visit the local businesses with farm products that are offered in Woodstock. The annual awards night was held on August 2. We honored long time members. Eddie Duhamel and Diane Miller were awarded with seals for the 65 years of membership Other long-time members are Georgia Ballard 80 years, Ronald Esterbrook 75 years and Helen Atocha 65 years. We also awarded college scholarships to 4 high school senior students. One was Bryn Miller a member who will be pursuing a pre-med program. 3 others will be going to college to study business and accounting.

We also honored the memory of long-time members Mercedes Robbins, Sally Newcombe and Elsie Johnson.

The local Conservation Committee will be helping us plant a pollinator garden on our property. We also will have a booth set up at the Celebrating Ag event to be held at the Brooklyn Fairgrounds on Sat. Sept. 23

We voted to apply for parking lot repair. This is from the Jewett Savings Bank.

It is very important to show the community what the Grange is all about.
