From The Lecturer's Desk
A New Grange Year

By Marge Bernhardt, State Lecturer/Program Director

  OCTOBER 2009 --

It is a new Grange year and a chance for a new beginning for all our Granges.  If you didn’t get everything done you wanted to in the past, the slate is wiped clean and we start all over again.  Let’s plan to have good programs which will bring out more members.  Ask those who haven’t attended in a while to be in a program.  New members are important, but let’s not forget our other members who may have gotten out of the habit of coming.  Remember, all Grange programs should be between 30 minutes and an hour long.  The average being reported to me is around 35 or 40 minutes.

Do you have a good idea for a program?  Tell your Lecturer about it, or better yet, offer to do a program for her.

I have heard of some new Lecturers being installed around the State.  Welcome to our group.  Remember, if you ever need help, all you have to do is contact me and I will be more than willing to give you a hand.  The Lecturers job is unique.  You have to be inventive and work constantly to find new ideas.  Our seasoned veteran lecturers will tell you that it can be a very enjoyable and satisfying job.  Just do your best.  That is all that anyone can ask.  Good Luck!

Hopefully I will see many of you at State Session.
