August 2021 News from Killingly Grange No. 112

By Penny Bennett

  August 11, 2021 --

At our Annual Picnic, which was held at the Bennett household on July 12th, our State Steward Ray Harrington and his wife Betty Jane, visited with us and inquired about the colorful history of our hall. It was very nice to be reunited with long-term members , Millie Briggs and Ann Duval, both of whom haven’t been to regular meetings for some time. They have faithfully helped prepare many dinners over the years. Millie is noted for her delicious apple pies, and Ann always made sandwiches for our Bluegrass Concerts.

Glenna Bruno will head up a Cold Deli Smorgasbord on August 14th. This dinner, served from 4:30-6:30 pm., will include deli meats, a potato salad, a macaroni salad, a garden salad, a gelatin salad (an orange, pineapple and carrot medley) and homemade apple crisp. The cost is only $10.00 per dinner. On Saturday, September 25th, Pat Valys’ Roast Pork Dinner will be held from 4:30-6:30pm.
