Family Activities News: Start One of our Projects

By Dawn Percoski, Family Activities Director

  May 3, 2021 --

It’s nice to hear the birds chirping and the days are getting longer. As you are getting the garden in order, don’t forget there is still plenty of time to start one of our projects. You can do the Sunflower theme, decorate a brick or the new build a birdhouse. The materials are totally up to you and I can’t wait to see what you have come up with! We also have the National Quilt Block Contest. There is a beautiful Pinwheel Quilt Block pattern which can be found on the State website. It’s also a great time to try out the recipe for our baking contest. The recipe is Sunflower Oatmeal cookies and it’s a small batch. Hopefully you will like it enough to keep it for your own family favorites!

Just a note for the Family Activities Chairman. If you have not received any of the packets, newsletters or emails I have been sending out, now is the time to let me know who you are and what the best way to contact you is. I have had some returned mail and have tried my best to contact those for updates with no luck. I appreciate your patience while we are getting acquainted with one another and updating our listings. With this pandemic we have all needed to make some adjustments, especially with technology and I acknowledge that not everyone has the capabilities to do so. But old-fashioned snail mail always works, so you can send me a letter or pick up the telephone and give me a call with your updates. Until next time, happy crafting!
