From The Lecturer's Desk: It’s a new Grange year

By Marge Bernhardt, CT State Grange Lecturer

  OCTOBER 1, 2020 --

It’s a new Grange year.  It’s time for everyone to get a fresh start.  We all need to think positive.  I know that most Granges are struggling both financially and membership wise.  Some members are not comfortable coming to an in person meeting and others are not comfortable with ZOOM.  But with the cooler days and nights we should have some renewed vigor and enthusiasm.  Let’s use this to help our Granges get back to normal.

New information on contest and programs will be coming out right after State Session and Election of Officers.  Do you have any suggestions for what you would like to see?  Please share them so they can be consolidated into the 2021 guidelines.

I would like to see both the Auld Acquaintance and the Word From Home projects continue.  These two contests put the name of the Grange out in public and your Grange can easily meet the requirements.  Do you have members who can’t get out to meetings?  Or, are you a Granger who would love to come and help but are unable to get out any longer?  Both of these contests are ideal for you.  You can write letters to soldiers and if you are talented in either knitting or crocheting, you could make lap robes or coverlets for a local convalescent home in the name of the Grange.  In the Grange there is work for all…..

Right after State Session, Certificates and prize money that is usually handed out there will be in the mail to your Grange Master so they can present them in your Grange.

Remember, BE POSITIVE.  We will make it through this.
