Public Relations News: What Are Your Grange's New Year's Resolutions?

By Terri Fassio, CT State Grange Public Relations Co-Director

  January 7, 2017 --

As we ring in the new year, there’s no better time to take a few minutes and reflect on the last year for your Grange, and to make a few resolutions for 2017.

• Resolve to … get the word out about my Grange.

It only takes a moment to send out a press release, post on Facebook and Twitter, hang a poster or two, or pick up the good old-fashioned telephone. Make the effort and reap the benefits!

• Resolve to … take photos and be more visual.

As the old saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. Incorporating photos (and even video) into your Grange’s marketing efforts can increase the public’s interest (and the interest of your existing members too!)

• Resolve to … communicate with your membership more frequently.

Staying in touch with your membership keeps everyone in the loop with the activities and projects of your Grange. Good communications creates enthusiasm.

• Resolve to … think outside the box.

Look for new ways to engage not only your Grange members but the public too. Find something that inspires you and then find a way to incorporate that into your Grange. Don’t be afraid to try something new.

• Resolve to … be a better Grange!

Have fun as a group. Laugh more. Give to the community. Be curious. Volunteer and lend a hand. Focus. Choose a favorite project to participate in. Exercise your mind. Be tolerant. Discover something new. Say thank you. But most importantly, share your love of the Grange with others.
