President's Message
March 2008 President's Message

By Robert Sendewicz, Master/President

  MARCH 2008 --

The weather is still playing havoc with Grange meetings. I hope that if it affected one of your meetings you postponed to later in the month. Remember that Article IX, section 4.9.2 of the Digest states;  that Subordinate Granges shall meet at least once each month.

Better weather is coming and activities are picking up in the Grange. If you are tired of spending evenings at home, visit a nearby Grange. They will be delighted to have you and you will enjoy yourself. Visiting Granges gives them a bigger boost than you might imagine and you will feel better knowing you have helped another Grange.

The schools of instruction have been completed. Much information on the National Grange, the State Grange and the Northeast Leaders Conference was presented at the schools. I have asked those attending to pass this information on to the other members.

If your school was held after the 2008 Hosting Committee met you also received information on what is happening with The National Session this year. I know many of you that have already volunteered are concerned about not being contacted yet. I can assure you that you will be, as soon as the chair of the committee has all the information it needs.

There are several positions that will be needed that are not part of the committees listed on the volunteer sheet. They mostly have to do with the Seventh Degree. I will mention these in the near future.

We are still in need of women for the Rose Drill for the Sixth Degree, which the State Grange will be conferring at National. Any interested women who are physically fit to march should contact Cynthia Anderson, President of North Stonington Community Grange #138, or contact me.  Things are really starting to come together and much information will start to come out. The most prominent places will be this newspaper and the official website. It’s address is listed in this paper. There are many other mundane obligations that will still have to be met and I will keep reminding you as they come up.

As you read this I will have come back from the State Master’s meeting held in Irving Texas on February 15-17, and important information will be mentioned in next months column.

In the meantime keep thinking  MEMBERSHIP.
