Deputies' Corner
New format for Schools of Instruction

By Todd A. Gelineau, General Deputy

  FEBRUARY 5, 2014 --

We hope to see large crowds of members at the Community Grange Schools of Instruction to be held Saturday, Feb. 8 at Norwich Grange and Sunday, Feb. 9 at Cheshire Grange.  In a departure from recent formats, this year’s schools will focus on instruction for the Masters, Overseers, Lecturers, Secretaries, Treasurers and Executive Committees of our Granges.  While all members are encouraged to attend, these officers will have the opportunity to meet with their State Grange counterparts to ask questions and be given useful tips and information to help them in their Grange work.  The School will also feature a leadership presentation by the State Master.  Both schools will begin at 1:00 P.M. and refreshments will follow the meetings.  The snow dates will be the same dates in March at the same time and locations.  Please contact me if you have any questions at GeneralDeputy@CTStateGrange.org or 860-626-0326.

The Pomonas will also have Schools of Instruction at upcoming meetings.  The dates are:

Central Pomona #1:  Feb. 13 @ Higganum

Quinebaug #2:  Feb. 1 @ Ekonk

East Central #3:  March 1 @ Good Will

Mountain County #4:  Feb. 10 @ Eureka (Snow Date- 3/22 @ Riverton)

New London County #6:  March 8 @ N. Stonington

Excelsior #7:  March. 19 @ Wolcott

Fairfield County #9:  March 5 @ Harmony (Snow Date June 4 @ Cannon)

*New Haven County’s school was held in January.

These schools will be completely different from the Community Grange Schools and will focus on the purpose of Pomona in today’s Grange.  To keep the meetings as brief as possible, the Pomona Lecturers have been asked not to have programs on these evenings.  Again, please contact me if you have any questions.
