Grangers remember Wolcott Grange Past Master Lou Godin

Louis J. Godin, 86, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at his home and joined his beloved late wife Pearl (Vezina) Godin who passed just two years ago.

Louis was born in Waterbury on Oct. 7, 1926, son of the late Louis Godin Sr. and Ida (Chartrand) Godin. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from Reymond's Bakery where he worked for over 30 years. He was a Wolcott resident for over 50 years, a past Grand Master of the Wolcott Grange, a board member of the Wolcott Historical Society and a Wolcott Mayor for the Day. He was an active parishioner of St. Pius X Church and served as a Eucharistic minister.

He is survived by his four children, Roger and his wife, Kathy Godin, of Southington, Pauline "Penny" and her husband, Donald Gadbois, of Colchester, David and his wife, Karen Godin, of Glastonbury, Annette Godin of Oakville; 13 grandchildren, Raymond Schilling, Robin Hall, Gary Schilling, Audrey Godin, Renee Tousignant, Kara Godin, Tamra Pasquariello, Freddy Pasquariello Jr., Katlyn Pearl Godin, Elijah Godin, Christopher and Darryl Elam and Jessica Harris; and nine great-grandchildren. Louis was one of 13 children and is also survived by a sister, Joan and her husband, Robert Chaney, of Thousand Oaks, Calif.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Debbie Godin for her compassion and assistance with their father.

The funeral will be 9:15 a.m. Friday from DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 690 Woodtick Road, Wolcott, to St. Pius X Church for a Mass at 10. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. Calling hours are today from 5 to 8 p.m.
