A good time was had by all -- at least I hope that’s a true statement. I’m referring to our Pomona Competitive Night. Good food, fun and fellowship.
The Prospect Senior Center proved an excellent location to hold this kind of event and we had a full hall. I thank the Pomona Lecturer’s for heading up the teams in their respective Pomonas. Sorry everyone could not have been a winner. The winners were: First place – New London County Pomona (Nancy Weissmuller, Gene Bromley, Janice Wells, Art Tylenda and Mary Medbery); Second place – New Haven County Pomona (Rich Bernhardt, Ruel Miller, Elizabeth Ryducha, Andrea Barlow and Donald Lanoue); Third Place Tie Farmington Valley Pomona (Maggie Schofield, Linea Erickson, Christine Griswold, Joanne Ritchie and Vi Danila) and Quinebaug Pomona (Jaimie and Jody Ann Cameron, Joan and Debbie Perry, and Denise Aubin). Farmington Valley won the prize on the tie-breaker.
Special thanks to all who came early for set up and stayed to the end for clean-up. The only hard part of the competition was the naming of one of the songs - “When Your Old Wedding Ring Was New”. This is a beautiful anniversary song and one I love. I ‘m sure you will too when you read the lyrics.
When your old wedding ring was new
And each dream that we dreamed came true
I remember with pride how we stood side by side
What a beautiful picture you made as my bride.
Even though silver crowns your hair
I can still see those gold ringlets there
Love’s old flame is the same
As the day I changed your name
When your old wedding ring was new.
Once again thank you to everyone who has assisted our committee in any way during the past year. This committee thoroughly enjoyed every minute of planning our activities.
