Cheshire Grange remembers Mary Hale

Mary A. Hale, 94, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Rosegarden Health and Rehab Center in Waterbury. She was the wife of the late Kenneth Ives Hale who passed away in 2008 after 68 years of marriage.

Mary was born in North Haven, June 10, 1916, the daughter of the late D.C. and Pamelia (Morrill) Allen. She was a longtime Cheshire resident where she worked alongside her husband raising chickens and children. Later in life, she worked as a school bus driver, shuttling high school students to sporting events.

She was a member of First Congregational Church of Cheshire and the Cheshire Grange. Throughout her life, she enjoyed duck pin bowling occasionally competing statewide.

Mary is survived by her sons, Stuart Hale and his wife, Judy, of Newbury, N.H., and Donald Hale and his wife, Judy, of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; her four daughters, Nancy Hale of Lehigh Acres, Fla., Sally Dery and her husband, Ron, of Deming, N.M., Cindy Schieman and her husband, Larry, of Lyman, N.H., and Janet Hale of Cheshire; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers, David and John, and her grandson, Stuart Hale.

Funeral services will be held 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2011, at the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
