Around The Grange
Jeanne B. Davies Honored for Accomplishments in Agriculture

By Colorado State Grange Press Release (10/7/10)

  OCTOBER 19, 2010 --

Jeanne B. Davies, former President of Colorado State Grange, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of agricultural services.

An agricultural specialist, Jeanne B. Davies has 32 years of professional experience, 14 of which have been with the Colorado State Grange. As president of the organization, she was responsible for lobbying and working with agricultural groups and various chapters regarding land issues, water and property rights. She assisted members of Grange chapters across the state, provided consulting services and lectured on the Grange and agriculture. Additionally, she oversaw agricultural development, organized local Grange activities, assisted with rural community issues and worked with Grange employees to plan benefits. Ms. Davies also served on the executive board of the National Grange for 12 years and was vice president of the organization for four years.

In addition to her work in agriculture, Ms. Davies is actively involved with local library associations. She established a number of libraries throughout the state of Colorado and is the namesake for the Jeanne Davies Public Library. She published a trustee manual for the American Library Association, and was honored with the Outstanding Trustee Award by the National Library Association for her efforts in library services.

Ms. Davies attributes her success to her passion for her profession and desire to help others. A decorated award winner, she was the first woman inducted to the Colorado Agriculture Hall of Fame—an accomplishment of which she is particularly proud. She was also deemed Farm Woman of the Year by the High Plains/Midwest AG Journal in 1983 and one of America's 15 Most Influential Women in Agriculture by Farm Woman's Magazine in 1966. This year, Cambridge Publishing named Ms. Davies its 2009 "Professional of the Year in Agricultural Services," a title to which only two registry members are given annually. She was also chosen to be featured in its paperback publication, "Cambridge Publishing's Top 101 Industry Experts. Never one to rest on her laurels, however, Ms. Davies intends to tackle larger issues facing the National Grange and the Colorado State Grange in the coming years.

The Colorado State Grange is a nonprofit organization dedicated to revitalizing the economic well-being and quality of life for the American agriculture producer. For additional information, visit http://www.coloradogrange.org.
