Membership News
A new idea for new members

By Joanne Cipriano, State Membership Director

  SEPTEMBER 2010 --

I attended a meeting of the Connecticut State Grange "Grange Growth" Committee recently. The State Grange is doing everything possible to assist Granges who have a membership problem. There are very few Granges who do not have one. If your Grange needs help contact Jody Cameron, Todd Gelineau or Jeff Barnes. Your Membership Committee is also here to help you. Help is only a phone call or email away.

New members come to us from many sources. Jean Meehan, Secretary of Prospect Grange, had a good suggestion. Each Sunday our newspaper the Waterbury Republican-American prints a section titled "Home". It lists the real estate transactions in Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Canaan, Cheshire, Derby, Goshen, Kent, Litchfield, Middlebury, Naugatuck, New Milford, North Canaan, Oxford, Prospect, Seymour, Sharon, Southbury, Waterbury and Wolcott. These are the towns that were listed in last Sunday's paper. I'm sure many other papers do the same thing. As Secretary, Jean checks the listing for Prospect and sends them a letter telling them about the Grange and inviting them to one of their meetings.

Great suggestion, Jean. If you have a suggestion, please share it with us.
