National Grange Receives an Encouraging Message from President George W. Bush

By Shaletta Espie

  NOVEMBER 25, 2003 --

President George W. Bush joins a long list of presidents to send encouraging messages to the National Grange. Every president of the United States from Ulysses S. Grant to George W. Bush has extended congratulatory messages to the oldest rural advocacy organization in the United States.

George W. Bush's message focuses on the organization's importance to the agricultural community:

"Agriculture is a cornerstone of American life. Our citizens depend on farmers for food, clothing, and to be responsible stewards of our land. Since 1867, the National Grange has played an important role in supporting agricultural production across our country. By equipping farm owners and operators with the information necessary to succeed and complete in the global marketplace, your organization helps strengthen our Nation."

-- George W. Bush

Since 1867, the White House has encouraged the Grange's efforts to improve the quality of life in rural America. If you would like copies of the messages sent by former presidents, please e-mail your request to sespie@nationalgrange.org.
