Winchester Grange mourns loss of Nathan Rebillard

Nathan Rebillard, 84, passed away on Aug. 24, 2008. Nathan was born Oct. 6, 1923, in Winsted, the only child of the late John and Sara Rebillard.

As a child, he spent his first fourteen years living in Riverton. In 1937, his parents bought the family farm in Torrington, which flourished for two generations, and was still being run by Nate with the help of his sons until recently. Nate was a graduate of Torrington High School, class of 1942.

He was a member of The United Congregational Church, Winchester Grange, Torrington Community Fellowship and the Torrington Historical Society. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, country western music, square dancing and the company of friends and family.

Nate is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Esther Rebillard; his children, Alan Rebillard, John Rebillard, and his wife Cheryl of Torrington, Gary Rebillard, and his wife Tracy of New Preston, and Marie Kitch and her husband Don of New Hartford. Nate's life was blessed by his grandchildren, Melissa and Robert Kitch and Matthew, Rebecca, Mirriah and Ethen Rebillard.

Friends and family are encouraged to be present for calling hours at the Nutting-Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield, on Wednesday, Aug. 27, between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. Funeral Services will take place at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28, at Nutting-Rowe Funeral Home. Interment will follow in procession to Hillside Cemetery, Walnut Street, Torrington.
