Community Service: Give Used Greeting Cards a New Life
  JANUARY 18, 2010 --

Looking for a new project for your Grange to participate in? Instead of throwing out old greeting cards, send them to St. Jude's Ranch for a second life! Through February 28, 2010, you can mail used, all-occasion greeting card fronts to the St. Jude's Ranch, and they will be made into new cards by children.

The children attach a new back to the card fronts, thus turning them into beautiful new cards. The new cards are then sold in packages of 10 for $10.00, and the children are paid for their work as well as money raised for the St Jude's Ranch program. The benefits are two-fold: customers receive "green" holiday cards for use and the children receive payment for their work and learn the benefits and importance of "going green". The card recycling program has been operational for over 30 years.

St. Jude's Ranch for Children has a 40 year history of healing and caring for abused, abandoned and neglected children. Founded in 1967 by Father Jack Adam, St. Jude's Ranch for Children rescues abused, abandoned and neglected children of all races and faiths from the vicious cycle of child abuse. They provide healing and nurturing in a safe home-like environment where children can learn life skills to start new lives with new chances, new choices and new hope.

Mail card fronts until February 28, 2010 to
