| OCTOBER 7, 2026 -- Autumn is the season to enjoy the bountiful fruits of our labor and a time to share and enjoy with neighbors and friends. The agricultural calendar is turning its page. The days are getting noticeably shorter with the promise of chilly evenings ahead.
Our Annual Grange Fair was a great success by any standard. As part of our Strategic Momentum we spent some time at our September 8th meeting critiquing “what worked and what didn’t” – always with an eye to streamline our processes.
Our membership agreed to issue two “Best in Show” awards. One is awarded to “Best in Show – Handmade” and the other is “Best in Show – Homegrown”. We felt the change recognized the broad spectrum of talent exhibited.
Up next was Burlington’s Tavern Day on September 20. Our bakers are worked hard preparing for another successful event. We always look forward to being out in the community reminding people of who we are and what we have to offer.
We will be holding a Tag Sale at our Grange on Saturday, October 10 from 9 am – 1 pm. It is still in the planning stages and more details will be forthcoming. If you love the hunt for treasures of yesteryear, come check us out.
We began preliminary planning for our annual holiday cookie walk. Previously, this fundraiser was held in Terryville at the Congregational Church. This year we will be
holding the fundraiser on Saturday, December 5 at our Grange located at 153 South Main Street in Whigville. It is newly named “Winter in Whigville” and promises to offer a vast array of cookies, baked goods, and holiday delights. More updates will follow.
We received a lovely thank you from Agape House in Bristol for our donations. They service some of the most-needy in our communities. We will continue to collect clothing, food, and household items for their clients.
In closing our September meeting Lecturer Lynn left us with 5 Connecticut Fun Facts that most of us were not aware:
