July 8: Summer Sports

July 15: Meeting Omitted ... It’s Fair Time!

July 22: Meeting Omitted ... It’s 4H Fair time!

On May 13 we learned a great deal about different kinds of libraries. We never knew there were so many different types. Our Memorial Program on May 27 sadly reminded us that we have lost eight of our members during the past year.

We hosted nearly 200 runners in the North Stonington Education Foundation’s annual 5K Race on May 28. The race had been suspended during COVID and we were excited to see it reinstated.   It is a great

money raiser for the NSEF and we are happy to donate our grounds and food booth for this good cause. Heartfelt thanks to the 10 members and friends who donated their time and efforts in the food booth to feed the hungry runners and their families.

Our Memorial Day float was a bit different this year on Richard White’s newly renovated hay wagon; but the beautifully attired NSAF Queen and Princesses graced it as usual with their tiara’s twinkling in the bright morning sunlight. A new addition this year were several lovely wooden swans made by Alice Speck. Cherry Miner filled the swans with flowers to complete the effect. We do appreciate the use of Richard and Gloria’s wagon and truck for our float each year, and we also appreciate the faithful few who come to assemble (and disassemble) the float. And if the newly named “spongy moth” will just leave our oak trees alone, next time we will tell you about joyous June.
