Dec. 3: We Need a Little Christmas; Fill a Mug Project

Jan. 7: Sing

Our November meeting was a combination Zoom and in-person, with 16 members present and 3 guests. It was wonderful to be back in the hall. State Executive Committee member Noel Miller and Chairperson Alma Graham, assisted by Deputy Ted Beebe, installed Vernon President Nancy Strong as the newest member of the State Grange Executive Committee. Congratulations, Nancy.

Christian  Schirmer   presented a PowerPoint program on how machines  are  programmed  by way of algorithms are learning to understand and create  programs to assist the farmer in every phase of plant production. With the help of robots like TOM fields can be planted, nourished, weeded, and spot sprayed (instead of broadcast spraying). This program is still in the infant stages, but the promise of future use is immeasurable. Thank you, Christian for a very informative program.

Our Lecturer Cherie  Robinson is enjoying a visit to her brand-new grandson. Congratulations to her and her family. Please remember to save and collect plastic bags and canceled stamps. A final word of praise to all who worked on the Community Service report. We took third place, and congrats to the winners in the CWA needlework contest at the Big E.    Our next meeting will be in-person, weather permitting. Have you asked someone to join the Grange? We need to have a net gain and the only way that will happen is for you to ask. I leave you with a quote from Theodore Roosevelt, “Believe you can and you’re halfway there.”
