Around The Grange
May 2021 News from Taghhannuck Grange No. 100

By Barbara Prindle

  May 9, 2021 --

At our April 8th meeting we were happy to have State Assistant Steward Roy Harrington, Nutmeg Pomona Lady Assistant Steward Betty Jean Harrington and, State Overseer and also Mountain County Pomona Overseer Bob Buck join us and contribute greatly to our meeting. This is one of the advantages of meeting on Zoom.

We Draped the Charter for Paul Johnson who was a member for 73 years as he joined at 14. He was a past Master of Taghhannuck Grange 1953-1954.

May 13th is our regular scheduled meeting with the program being “Spring Activities”. At this writing I am not sure if it will be in-person or on Zoom as we are now reaching out to all our members to see if they have been vaccinated and whether they would feel comfortable attending a meeting in our Grange Hall. So please look at our Facebook page or call me at 860-364-5373 if you would like to join us for updated information.

June 5th we will again be having our Plant Sale at the Grange Hall. People are already calling to see if we will have it this year. The vegetables and flowers are specially grown for us and are strong, healthy and ready for planting. We thank the donor for doing this each year as it is our only fund raiser. We are keeping the $2.00 price along with the free advice on how to plant and tend the plants. As usual we will also have literature on the Grange available (with applications and pens at the ready) and be talking about what Taghhannuck Grange does in our continuing effort to get new members.
