Around The Grange
August 2019 News from Prospect Grange No. 144

By Jean Meehan

  August 10, 2019 --

Prospect Grange was excited to receive an invitation to attend the opening of the Statue of Liberty Museum in New York. We were able to donate toward the construction and will have our name engraved in recognition of our donation. We took on this project because of our many ancestors who came through Ellis Island and became citizens of the U.S.

We also were able to donate several animals to a third world country through Heifer International. Prospect Grange continues to do community service within our community and surrounding communities.

At home we collected several items and donated them to the veterans and also a family that was burned out of their home.

We have been trying hard to increase our membership, however, nothing seems to work. We will continue to try until the end of 125 year working our community. We meet the second Thursday of each month at the recreation center. Please call our Secretary before coming as sometimes we meet elsewhere.

Our thoughts and hearts go out to the family of Edith Schoell. She was truly a great person and Granger. Six of our members had the privilege of knowing her as she played for the Rose Drill Team. We want to wish everyone a happy and safe summer.
