Around The Grange
May 2019 News from Taghhannuck Grange No. 100

By Barbara Prindle

  May 7, 2019 --

Taghhannuck Grange was very happy to obligate/welcome a new member, Doug Pelletier, into our Grange at our April meeting. We are finding that having events at our Hall is the best way to get people interested in our Grange.

On Saturday, May 4th from 9:30 am until 12:30 pm we will have a booth at the Sharon Classic Road Race on Sharon Green. The Sharon Classic Road Race, a 34-year tradition in Sharon, CT combines small-town charm with big race amenities. This began as a fundraiser for the Sharon Day Care Center and has grown into their major fund raising event. Come down and bring the kids since they have ongoing activities for all ages.

Our May 9th, 8pm meeting will have part of our program recounting the history of the Grange by Sharon Kroeger along with the Maypole theme by Carol Knutson and myself adding to the presentation.

On May 23rd we have our Citizen of the Year presentation. The recipient of this award is from Cornwall this year. We begin with a pot-luck dinner at 6:30. A prospective member who visited out Hall April 11th says he wants to come and will bring bear stew. We welcome everyone to this meeting and just ask them to bring something to add to the food table.

Lastly on Saturday June 1st from 9am to 3pm we have our major fundraiser. This is our annual RUMAGE & PLANT SALE. I know some of you come to our Hall each year to get the heirloom plants and we look forward to seeing you there.
