Around The Grange
September 2018 News from North Stonington Community Grange No. 138

By Nancy R. Weissmuller

  September 12, 2018 --

Sept. 14: “Humility is the solid foundation of all virtues”

Sept. 28: “Surprise”

We are sorry to report that long-time member Miriam Shabunia has joined the Great Grange Above. Miriam was our Pomona for many years and will be sadly missed.

We are happy to report that Meredith Key was welcomed into our Grange on July 19th. Meredith has been a great help to us at the ham and bean dinner at our agricultural fair. The Fair was well attended this year with good weather all four days. Many thanks to all those who work unending hours to make our Fair a success.

Debbie Barnes is finally, happily home after months in various hospitals. We hope she will be back with us soon at meetings. Get well wishes go out to Thurlow Coats who is recuperating at home after a stay in the hospital.

The annual 4H Expo is now history. We couldn’t run our little food booth without help from a few dedicated Grangers and some friends crazy enough to volunteer to melt in 90+ degree heat and run their fee off or sizzle behind a grill or fryolator for hours at a time. We cannot thank these people enough for all they do.

Our officers will be installed at the first meeting in September. Come to our second meeting to see what our Lecturer Sue Pianka, has cooked up for us. It will be fun, whatever it is. And if that darn four-pronged Bambi that keeps eating my tulip tree out back will just go back into his storybook, next time we will tell you all about awesome August.
