Around The Grange
September 2018 News from Senexet Grange No. 40

By Diane Miller

  September 12, 2018 --

We have been meeting regularly. Several young members of the Grange took it upon themselves to do some outside yard work, lawn mowing and weed removal. Our Grange hall is on a very busy road and the exterior has needed some work. We want to try to make it look better. We will be helping with Celebrating Ag on Sept 22. This event displays agriculture in a positive way. We will also be holding our annual fair on Saturday Sept 15 from 9-noon, showcasing the skills of our members and others in the community. We had new heater units installed in the meeting room after three failed from a power surge. We were saddened to hear of the death of long time Gold Sheaf members Lorraine Duhamel, George Lawrence and Jotham Reynolds. At our annual awards night held in August we awarded the scholarships to member Ciri Miller who will attend UConn in the fall, as well as Woodstock residents Hannah Walley, Leah Reynolds and Zeenat Choudhry. We are working on the Grange exhibit for the Woodstock Fair, this year with a theme of recycling.
