August 2018 News from Harmony Grange No. 92

Aug. 10: Regular Meeting @ 7:30 P.M., Refreshment @ 6:30 P.M. Lecturer’s Program to be announced later.

Harmony Grange has scheduled its Agricultural Fair for August 25, 2018 at the Grange Hall. Vegetables will be registered beginning at 6:00 P.M. on Friday, August 24 and on the morning of the Fair from 8:00 to 9:30 A.M. The roundabout at the intersection of Rtes. 111 & 110 and the closing of traffic entering and existing Herd Avenue from Rt.110 are now realities. Herd Avenue can be reached from Rt. 110 using Moose Hill Rd.& Ruth St. and from Rt. 111, use Jeannette St.

Harmony Grange will be draping its charter for 50+ year member Basil Dikovsky. He was a former member of Far Mill River Grange and become a member of Harmony Grange when the two Granges consolidated.

Basil died at the VA Hospital in West Haven, CT. and was a Navy veteran of WW11. He graduated from UConn with a BS Degree in Horticulture and was known for his gardens and bonsai trees. He owned and operated the Dikovsky Poultry and Egg Farm in Shelton. Basil was the devoted husband of Nancy Dikovsky. Our Grange, Treasurer. Our Grange Secretary, We also mourn the passing of Susan Sulier. She had been a patient at Bridgeport Hospital and at the Lord Chamberlain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
