March 2018 News From North Stonington Community Grange

By Nancy R. Weissmuller

  March 8, 2018 --

March 9: “A Superior Man is Modest in His Speech, but Exceeds in his Actions.”

March 23: “Success Depends on Previous Preparation and Without Such Preparation there is Sure to be Failure.”

Our January meeting was a bit thin of company, it being a very cold, very rainy evening. Our Gatekeeper and his mom were in Hartford because he had been chosen to sing in the all-state chorus. Way to go, Jason! We are so proud of you! At the meeting Mike Riley, President of the North Stonington Agricultural Fair (and our newest member) explained the changes and updates to the water system on the grounds and other repairs and improvements needed. The Grange voted to agree to the implementation of these changes. The Ag. and Conservation Committee was in charge of the program and provided us with some interesting facts about natural foods and some humor from the Old Farmer’s Almanac.

Our March 9 meeting is Ritual and Officer Exchange night. On March 23 we will be treated to Sue’s entry in the State Lecturer’s contest. And if that cayenne pepper will just keep those pesky squirrels away from my bird’s suet, next time I’ll tell you about fabulous February.
