Around The Grange
October News from Killingly Grange No. 112

By Glenna Bruno

  October 14, 2017 --

Oct. 2: Installation of Officers

Oct. 7: Apple Festival

Oct. 16: Meeting & Halloween Whatever

Oct. 28: Bluegrass

Our Sept. meeting was “Around the World” and hopefully a speaker was there on gardening. Many of our members have traveled some, so a peek into their trips and a short talk on gardening will do for a program.

In Oct. we will be having another apple festival with John Bennett as head of activities. Later in the fall our Bluegrass will be performing.

We held a dinner on Sept. 13 with turkey and all the fixings.

We finally have repaired the corner of the building on the dining room end thanks to Mr. Paul Grandalski doing the labor and Glenna Bruno being the “Sidewalk Superintendent and Financial Supporter.” Mr. Grandalski is a close relative of two of our former members, Wanda Mack and Bertha Kruger. Wanda passed away several years ago and Bertha is in a rest home. Bless them both.

Our breakfast chef Bruce Kohl has been in and out of the hospital and rehab. For some weeks now. Hope he is progressing in health.

As of this writing, our Sept. 16 Grange Fair has yet to happen but by the time of printing, it will have passed for another year. Hopefully the weather cooperated.

For our Golden Sheaf Night, we had our own regular five Golden Sheaf members in attendance. We are all still active, alive and well. What a great generation!

We did well on our Ham and Bean Dinner and July our Cold Dinner did well. Happy Fall!
