OCTOBER 2, 2017 -- Killingly Grange's 4th annual BIG-little Apple Festival will take place on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Grange Hall, Route 101 and Dog Hill Road. The festival will take place rain or shine.
The festival will once again feature live acoustic music. Dave Frost and Peter Lange will play early rock, folk and classic country tunes. Tim 'n' Vicki will perform renaissance, baroque, American folk, bluegrass, gospel, contemporary original and campfire music.
The all day-long apple pancake breakfast will take place. Tickets are $5 in advance, if purchased from Grange members, or $6 at the door. Children 12 or younger may attend for $4. The purchase of a breakfast ticket gives each patron a chance of taking home a door prize. There will also be a basket raffle. The drawing for the raffle and the door prizes will begin promptly at 3:30 p.m.
Other apple-based culinary delights include apple sauerkraut hot dogs, chili dogs, apple pies and fritters, apple cider donuts, and candy apples. Cider, eating apples, pumpkins, gourds, chrysanthemums, apple jellies, butters and sauces, and preserves and relishes will also be available.
The Salon de Macintosh Art Show will include an assortment of paintings, prints, quilts, hand-made greeting cards and vintage decorations and collectables. Tunk City Revival will also be present.
The Grange invites all children to come and enjoy its Young-at-Heart Pumpkin Party, which features a scarecrow stroll and smirking Jack-o-lanterns competition. There will also be a hoop-rolling race; a corn hole toss; and a donut-eating contest. All children are encouraged to exercise their imagination to the fullest with regard to the design of their costumes and pumpkins. Pumpkins must be carved at home. All children are winners; they will all receive a prize. For full details, call 860-705-3643. |
