Around The Grange
July News from Killingly Grange

By Glenna Bruno

  July 3, 2017 --

July 3: Before July 4, RWB

July 17: Picnic, Eat Out? Somewhere

The Silent Auction will be over by the time this is printed, but last year it was a success. Hopefully the same this year. There is a pork dinner before or during the auction. We hope you came prepared to bid. We have to brag about Pat Valys’ dinners and Millie Brigg’s delicious pies.

Our Wednesday dinners have been okay but could have more Grangers attending.

The May baskets we planned didn’t go off as well as I had expected. Only three baskets were made by members. Guess May baskets are “old fashioned.” Guess this Lecturer has to get up to the 21st (and beyond) century. Maybe this Lecturer didn’t give good directions as to what May baskets are all about. We had a skit for Mother’s Day- with 6 members holding one letter of the word “Mother” and we sang the old song MOTHER.

On June 19 we had the State Master, Noel Miller and State Lecturer Marge Bernhardt helping with the “Shadow” ritual for our new members to be familiar with their office – or station- a good time to have a neighbor’s night.

Our apple festival has been postponed until next year. Come up is a ham and bean supper. On the second Wednesday, these are going on all year.

Keep posted.
