June 15: Legislative Program - Our state legislators join for a Wrap- Up of the recent Legislative Session in Hartford

July 6: Business Meeting

July 20: Business Meeting

Aug. 27: Agricultural Fair (10 AM - 4 PM)

Our headline celebration of Grange Month on April 20th featured our very own Pam Lillis who gave a terrific program on Small Batch Canning. Pam expertly worked her way in the kitchen sharing all the ins and outs of creating a rhubarb-strawberry compote before the eyes of a rapt audience. We saw how much fun, and actually, how easy it is to do small batch canning. Pam shared with us the equipment and supplies necessary to make a successful and healthy batch, including recipes. We hope to feature Pam in future canning events in our kitchen for the public throughout the months ahead. Pam is a certified nutritionist and health coach and we are fortunate to have her as a member at Cannon Grange!

Also, as part of our Healthy Living themed programs this year, Grange Month was celebrated with continuation of Tai Chi classes on Wednesday mornings (10:30 AM) and evenings (7 PM) led by our very own Bil Mikulewicz . Bil is a certified Tai Chi instructor and he is expertly sharing his knowledge of balance and relaxation.

All classes are $5 each and attendees can simply drop in. Come and give it a try! We have children and older adults enjoying Tai Chi.

Two of our members are busy in their respective greenhouses raising tomato plants for sale. Billie Sue Hollingsworth reports she has more than 300 plants going, and Don Offinger reports his greenhouse has more than 1600 plants.

Our Legislative program on June 15th will be coordinated by Gail Lavielle, our State Representative and member of Cannon Grange. This wrap-up session will have lots of interesting updates from the budget process, transportation issues, sales tax and more. This program always attracts a large audience to hear from our local state representatives and state senator. We’re appreciative of Gail’s efforts in hosting this event.

And of course, we invite all to attend our 85th Agricultural Fair on Sunday, August 27th. Lots of fun activities for the family are planned. We hope to see you then!
