June News from Lyme Grange

By Lois Evankow

  June 27, 2017 --

July 6: Fireworks & Sparklers

Aug. 3: Picnic at 6:30, Getting Ready for the Fair

Sept. 7: Installation & Congrats to our new officers

The weather cooperated for our May meeting. We have a campaign to collect ratty towels, blankets, leashes, collars and food for the Old Lyme Animal Rescue Shelter, as requested by CWA Director Irene Percoski. As the Steward’s charge in the first degree directs, we are protecting animals. We are sure doing that. The response has been wonderful.

Our Overseer, Kathy Tefft, has been sick with pneumonia and now has a broken foot which will require surgery.

Hamburg Fair plans are well underway.

The Town of Lyme held a “Come to Volunteer Day” at the firehouse in Hamburg. Lyme Grange had a wonderful display Showing the public all the tings the Grange does and volunteers needed for our Fair.

Three people signed up as prospective Grange members and 15 signed up to volunteer at the Fair. We are very grateful and need all the help available.

In May, our food and plant sale on the same day as the Church’s rummage sale should produce more items for the animal shelter as the church folks have said we could have leftovers from the rummage sale.

Neighbor’s Nights aren’t what they used to be. No one came. People do not realize what they are missing by not visiting.
