Around The Grange
January News from Riverton Grange

By Shirley Moore

  January 16, 2017 --

Jan. 20: 109th Anniversary of our Grange, 6:30 Potluck Supper, Sharon and George Russell in charge; 7:30 Celebration and A Number Contest (SNOW DATE Jan. 27)

Feb. 3: Reg. Meeting, Program – Agriculture Committee; Ref. Theresa, Matt, Amanda & Rachel Freund

We have not yet had our December meeting, but look forward to a program about snowpersons and celebrating Christmas. We will also be having a flute ensemble from the Gilbert School who will provide some of our Christmas music. Alexis LeMere, Bob O’Connor’s granddaughter, is part of this group. We look forward to having these programs. I am sure there will be more to tell about these in the next issue of the Granger.

Our Grange did participate in Christmas in Riverton on the weekend of Dec. 3, 4 and 5. Dawn Anstett and Phil & Maureen Prelli were in charge of the Festival of Trees and teaching crafts to about thirty children. There were twenty-five trees which individuals bought and trimmed for judging. Judging was done by those who visited the Grange and donated food for the Barkhamsted Food Bank, which totaled 175 pounds.

Over $450 was also given to the Food Bank from the sale of the trees. Winners

of the best decorated trees were Deborah Hodge, adult division, and Caitlin Weller, youth division. We look forward to having visitors any time and wish everyone a happy and healthy 2017.
