November News from Wallingford Grange

By Dan Lauttenbach

  November 8, 2016 --

Meetings in September: September found us preparing for our fair…

September 7 – Fair Work night. Did some setup of tables. The dining room floor was washed. Marcia setup upstairs the tag sale tables and did pricing.

September 15 – Fair Work night. Note this was a change from the Pomona book. Again did more setting up. Afterwards we had a short meeting. Then we all had pizza and celebrated Dan’s birthday with ice cream cake.

September 17 – Annual Wallingford Grange Fair. We had a clear, sunny and warm day for our fair. Given the drought conditions in this part of the state we had vegetable and flower entries but they were down from previous years. This year we had at least two full tables of needlework, which was a bit of a surprise. We sold out our Chicken Barbecue dinner. The Sheehan High school girls’ soccer team helped out in the kitchen and dinner room and was a BIG help. Thank you Ray Ross and the girls’ soccer team for helping us out.

Upcoming Events:

November 10 – Originally scheduled for a guest speaker from the Little Stone House Museum in Guilford. This has been postponed to our December meeting. Our guest will then give a short talk about Puritans celebrating (or the lack there of) Christmas. This meeting topic is to be done.

November 24 – Happy Thanksgiving – N o Meeting.
