July News From Lyme Grange

By Lois Evankow

  JULY 20, 2016 --

Aug. 4: Watermelon weather. Hot dog time. Picnic at 6:30 P.M.

Aug. 19-21: Hamburg Fair

Sept. 1: Summer Capers – Besides the Fair, what else did you do this summer?

On a lovely evening in June, we held our June meeting with 14 in attendance. Due to health reasons, several were absent.

It was voted to make our annual donations to various charities, Warm the Children, soup kitchens, Salvation Army, Future Farmers of America, Farmland Trust, and all four CWA charities.

We also voted to send our Lecturer to Lecturer’s Conference. Several people offered a GPS instrument but she declined and hopefully will not get lost using Mapquest.

Our food and plant sale was a huge success. Many peopled worked hard and baked. It netted $1,251.81. It worked out well with the church across the street having their rummage sale the same day. We let them use our dining room while we moved into the kitchen and a tent outside. Lots of traffic made the excellent revenue. The blueberry muffin contest was held with four entries using our own recipes.

We voted in a new member of the Executive Committee and a new Pomona.

A speaker came and spoke to us on the Vietnam War and recognizing certain people. The Chaplain did her Memorial Service and the Lecturer had her program with Father’s Day in mind. It was a very enjoyable evening.
