Harmony Grange News for September

By George Ward

  SEPTEMBER 23, 2015 --

Our annual Agricultural Fair was held August 15th at the Grange Hall and grounds.  Much planning was done at special meetings to make it a success as it is a fundraiser.

Many thanks go to Ron and Gail Bunovsky for the many phone calls and personal contacts to get exhibits of farm equipment to get people to attend and at least have breakfast, lunch or both.  Inside thehall we had vegetables, flowers, canned goods, needlework, and others were judged for ribbons and prize money.  A member of the Connecticut State Grange Membership Committee, Maggie Buck, had a membership table to sign up potential new members.

In July we held our election of officers for the next two years.  All chairs were filled.  Installation of officers will be the fourth Friday in September (25th) by Past State Master and Past First Lady Bob and Marge Sendewicz.  The meeting was scheduled for the fourth Friday as both Bob and Marge will be out of town the second Friday, which is our regularly scheduled meeting night.

Harmony Grange has elected one new member and will ballot on three more candidates at our August meeting.  Harmony Grange has put much effort in membership and we expect a good increase in our membership for the coming year.

After our Agricultural Fair, we will have special meetings to prepare for our 125th Anniversary which has been written up in several issues of the CT Granger.  As stated previously, we will have a history of the area Granges that make up the present membership of Harmony Grange as well as other activities..  The date is Sunday, October 4th, beginning at 1 P.M., at the Grange Hall.  The April issue of the CT Granger had a write-up of our plans.

Sept. 25:  Installation of Officers, Refreshments at 6:30, Meeting at 7:30
