Wallingford Grange News for June

April 9: “FFA in Our Town” Members of the Lyman Hall FFA Chapter spoke to Grange members about their FFA activities, classes they participate in the Vo-Ag program and how these programs are preparing them for college. Each member outlined their plans are for continuing their education beyond high school. Vo-Ag studies at Lyman Hall include   Agricultural Mechanics/Turf, Plant Science, Food Science, Aquaculture, Large Animal Science, Small Animal Technology & Wildlife Biology.  Upcoming events in May for Lyman Hall Vo-AG will be the annual Vo-Ag Fair and Plant Sale on May 19, 20 and 21st.

April 11: We held our Spring Bake and Tag sale. Vern was busy in the kitchen cooking up his breakfast hot dogs and the bake-sale table was full and busy. People came to look and buy.  At the end of it we made some money.

April 23: Carl Bernhardt, New Haven County Pomona deputy, did our inspection before the meeting and Marge Bernhardt, State Lecturer, looked over our Lecture’s notebook.  This night’s program was “Let’s hear it from an Eagle Scout”; Boy Scouts from Wallingford Troop 1 spoke to Grange members about some of the present and past scouting activities.  Scout Master Michael Gagne gave general scouting information and his role within the organization. Alex Socha explained what steps he needed to launch and implement his project that earned him his Eagle Scout rank.  Other scouts, who have not yet achieved the Eagle Scout rank, talked about some ideas they had in mind for their project and specifically why they wanted to do them. Other topics included activities the scouts can participate in on a local and national level as well what their ranks are within their troop and the responsibilities they hold.
