Ekonk Community Grange June 2015 News Update

By Sue Gray

  MAY 31, 2015 --

We used the proceeds from the May “Brown Bag Auction” to start a commercial stove fund!  Paulette Craig, Sue Griffiths and Andrea Truppa (Awards Committee) honored Link Cooper at the May meeting.  Paulette presented him with a desk name plate and engraved pen.  Sue read his accomplishments in Grange and community.  Andrea presented him with a citation from Senators Mae Flexer and Andy Maynard and Rep. Paul Brycki.  Greatly deserved, Link!

June will be election of officers, annual Strawberry Supper (13th) and operating the annual Relay for Life Food Booth in Plainfield.  Katie Molodich and Jody Cameron have created an Ekonk Community Grange Mentoring Program and the first two to benefit from this will be Natasha and Paula Ignacio, who have been great Junior member & Honorary and helped at many Subordinate fundraisers for a long time.  Link Cooper & Paulette Craig visited Sterling Community School and presented 3rd graders with their Earth Day Poster prizes; every 3rd grader enjoyed ice cream.  We donated $300.00 to the State FFA Career Development/Education Fund.  We will now each bring a non-perishable food item to every Grange meeting, which will be added to the coffers for our needy families.  Special guests Jeff and Debbie Barnes visited as well as Joe LoPresti, who brought lots of flowers which our President gave to various officers.  Visit us on the hill any first Monday.
