Around The Grange
April 2015 News from Glastonbury Grange

By Kay Ruff

  APRIL 7, 2015 --

As I am writing this article it is February 22 and we just had snow and then rain overnight and that STUFF is heavy to move.  I have been out there for one hour and must go out again in maybe 2 hours and do some more.  I hope by April 2 all these snow piles in my yard will be just a memory.  But I doubt it.

Our April 2 meeting is entitled Eggs and Bunnies.  That tells me Easter is almost here.  The CWA Baking Contest will be judged that evening.  I hope a few members have been trying the recipe.  I have tried it twice.  (I am not sure that I will be entering the contest as I will still be recovering from a total knee replacement, surgery is March 11th).  It will also be the Lecturer’s Skit Contest Night.  I hope the Grommecks will be back from Florida and Taffy from Vermont.  Otherwise someone else will have to jump in to cover the refreshments.  April 11th and May 9th we have card parties scheduled.  I hope we have an exceptional turnout as we had to cancel the February one.  WE NEED the INCOME.

Our May 7 meeting is Skit and Memorial Service.  Traditionally the Graces prepare the Memorial Program.  It is also our inspection evening.  We will be inspected by Deputy Cindy Charbonneau from Meriden Grange.  Welcome Cindy.

May 2nd is our Semi-Annual Food and Tag Sale from 9 to 12.  This is a very “Special and Important” fundraiser for us.  We need everyone’s support for this event in one way or another.  If you cannot bake something for the sale a cash donation is always welcome.  I thank everyone for their past support.  It has been greatly appreciated.  Hopefully you can make a meeting.  We would enjoy seeing you.

Apr. 11:  Monte Carlo Whist Card Party – 7 P.M.

May 2:  Semi-Annual Food & Tag Sale – 9 A.M. to 12 P.M.

May 7:  Meeting, 7:30 P.M.  Skit & Memorial Service (Inspection)

May 9:  Monte Carlo Whist Card Party, 7 P.M.
