North Stonington Com. Grange November News

By Nancy R. Weissmuller

  NOVEMBER 11, 2014 --

Due to the Thanksgiving holidays there will be only one meeting in November.  Our speaker, Katherine Dugas from the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station, will give a talk on invasive insects, two of which are the emerald ash borer and the winter moth.  These insects are threatening our deciduous forests.

Our September programs were very interesting.  The first gave us an account of a German submarine sunk off our coast during WW II.  At our Sept. 26 meeting Greg Howard, a Stonington policeman, gave an amazing talk and demonstration with his now retired police dog, Fritz.  Greg fielded many questions from the crowd.  And if all these golden leaves that are falling will just stay away from my lawn, next time we’ll tell you all about outstanding October.

Nov. 14:  “Wake Up Call”

Nov. 28:  “Rude Awakening”- No Meeting, Happy Thanksgiving
