| OCTOBER 1, 2014 -- Another busy summer has concluded in Winchester Center and an even busier fall season is upon us. The fall events began with our 2nd Annual Winchester Center Day held in conjunction with the Winchester Center Congregational Church, Winchester Historical Association, Winchester Grange and Winchester Center Volunteer Fire Department on Sat., Sept. 13. The began with very chilly weather followed by overcast skies that held off the rain until our closing time at 2:30. While attendance was down for the day there was a good profit realized by all organizations. Plans are already underway for the 2015 event.
Coming up on October 3, we will hold our annual Fall Super Prize Party or Penny Auction. The fun begins when the doors open at 6:00 P.M. and the drawing of prizes will begin at 7:00 P.M. It’s an early evening with lots of fun and refreshments. Join us.
Winchester Center will be turned into the center of Icelandic education and culture in America on Saturday, October 18 when Iceland Affair returns to Winchester Grange for its second year. This year, Winchester Grange is a sponsor of the event that will feature Icelandic horses, an Icelandic falcon, native foods and speakers and presenters flown in from Iceland. It’s a unique event that you can only experience in Winchester Center. Admission is free and there will also be free samples of Icelandic food available. The event is organized by Gerri Griswold known by many as the traffic announcer on WTIC-AM and locally is known as the “Bat Lady” for her love of bats.
Looking further ahead… on Saturday, November 1, we will have our annual Holiday Bazaar and Cookie Walk at the Grange Hall from 9:00 to 2:00 P.M. Admission is free and there will be plenty of early-bird Christmas gift ideas available along with our cookie walk and luncheon foods served all day. Join us!
