Litchfield Grange Reorganization Meeting set for Sept. 10

By Todd A. Gelineau, Scout for Litchfield Grange

  SEPTEMBER 8, 2014 --

We are pleased to report that a date has been set for the re-organization meeting of Litchfield Grange No. 107.  Invitations have been sent to each of the people who have indicated interest in joining the Grange for Wednesday, September 10 at 7:30 P.M.  The meeting at the Grange Hall on Route 202 in Litchfield will feature a basic overview of Grange procedure, a video on Litchfield Grange and questions and answers with State Master Jody Cameron.

Hopefully after hearing and seeing what the Grange is about, many will be willing to join Litchfield and be obligated by the State Master.  Having met each person one on one, I can tell you they are a very diversified group and will make a tremendously vibrant and dynamic Grange if all goes as planned.

Nothing will make me happier than being able to report to you in the next issue and at State Session that Litchfield Grange has returned to the roster of active Granges in the State of Connecticut.  It’s been a long time coming and I’m excited to see our plans come to fruition, but I’m equally as excited for these new members as they have the unique opportunity to essentially create a new Grange and make it their own.

When I joined Winchester Grange over 24 years ago, I joined a well established Grange that definitely had and still has its own well traveled path to follow and no matter how capable you were, you had to prove to the Grange leadership that you could be “trusted” with the legacy of Winchester Grange.  I don’t think this is an unusual occurence in Granges all over the State and Nation.  We all must be more willing to accept change and to make room for new members and ideas.

These new Litchfield Grange members will not have those barriers to overcome and should all enter the Grange at essentially the same level.  It will be fun to watch a new Grange happen!
