North Stonington Comm. Grange July News Update

By Nancy R. Weissmuller

  JULY 8, 2014 --

May was a busy month.  At our first meeting Denise Hollis, from MASH (Mystic Area Shelter and Hospitality) gave an interesting talk on the good works of this very worthy organization.  On May 28 we had our Memorial Program and then played “Hollywood Squares” with questions geared to Memorial Day.  Our food booth crew worked a two day dog show.  We hosted the NSEF road race and cooked all the food for over 300 participants.  Our float carried the NSAF Queen and Princesses in the North Stonington Memorial Day Parade.  Many thanks to Gloria and Richard White for the loan of their hay wagon and beautifully polished truck.  We participated in the town-wide yard sale supporting the Wheeler Library and our hall was used for the Troop 71 Boy Scout pancake breakfast.

We hope you will all come to our annual North Stonington Agricultural Fair to be held on July 10-13.  We are celebrating our 50th Fair this year and it should be a very special event.  There will be a new parking system.  You will park, then pay at the ticket booth.  We hope this will expedite entry to the fair and eliminate much of the traffic back-up that has plagued us for years.  And if the little wren who has built her next in my hanging plant out front won’t mind if I water the plant once in a while, next time I’ll tell you about Jubilant June.

July 18:  “A Donnybrook Fair” CWA has the program (3rd Friday)
