Special 25th Anniversary Contest: Container Garden
“My Community: Celebrating Northwest Connecticut”
In recognition of the 25th Anniversary of the Riverton Grange Fair, we are inviting you to participate in this special contest and enter your own special miniature garden, representing what you like most about your community. This contest is open to everyone age over age 5, and will be judged in the following age categories:
Junior - ages 5-12
Youth - ages 13-18
Adult - 19+
Contest Rules
Containers may be made out of any material as long as it meets, the size and waterproof restrictions. Use your imagination. Planters, plastic trays, even found objects make interesting vessels.
Your garden take up no more than 15” X 15” square area and be under 18” high.
You must make your container waterproof, so that is does not leak on the table, it is displayed on.
All containers must contain both plants and suitable materials to decorate and present your theme.
Judging Criteria
Container design & layout 30 points
Plant selection & use 20 points
Decorative element selection and use 20 Points
Presentation of theme 30 points
Total 100 points

Second $3 & Ribbon
