MAY 4, 2014 -- The Killingly Grange Farmer’s Market have done very well. All farmers, mostly local, have been very pleased with their results sometimes feeding off each other. The Grange is also “feeding off” these markets as well as they are a nice trade off sometimes!
Killingly Grange has held a very successful Ham and Bean Supper and a Corned Beef & Cabbage Supper. Both were well attended. Had just enough “Beef” for the last folks- members of the bluegrass band and the Grange members (workers).
Many thanks to all the cooks- Pat Lewis, Glenna Bruno and a big help from Mike Franklin and Julie (a new member). Other faithful members, especially Anne Duval, Linda and John. Kudos to all.
Check Facebook for updates on our upcoming events.
On Saturday, March 23, the Daville Cub Scouts held a seed planting activity at the Grange in anticipation of a “raised garden” project scheduled as soon as weather permits in a neighbor’s yard.
Our clothing shed has been a busy place and we have done well financially with no work from Grange members.
Killingly Grange Master Bernadette has been having good reports of our activities in her travels to various committee meetings around the area.
We need helpers – if you are an able member and can get about even a little bit posting signs, doing dishes, setting up chairs or tables, whatever, it all helps. The camaraderie is great. We had fun with Cranny and Millie Briggs & Robin peeling and scraping potatoes and carrots for our suppers.
Ideas for projects are always welcome with all the cooking going on at the Grange we have a new motto and mascot, “the Kitchen Chicken Café” (say that fast!) and a wooden chicken, what else? When we start cooking you know we are way over the hill!
