Around The Grange
Oxford Grange to present Gardening Series through April

By Robert Buck

  MARCH 13, 2014 --

Oxford Grange is hosting a series of gardening programs this spring, with such topics as planting, pest control and seeds.  The next installment will be held on March 13th at 7:00 PM on the topic of Outdoor and Container Planting. It is free and open to the general public.

The series began back on February 13th with a session on Composting and Garden Prep, and the second installment was held on February 27, where the discussion was on how to choose seeds for planting. The program will consist of six sessions and will run for three months with two sessions per month.

All sessions will be at Oxford Grange Hall located at 482 Oxford Rd/CT Route 67 in the center of Oxford, between the Oxford Center Firehouse and Center School.

While pre-registration is not required, it would be appreciated to better plan for the sessions.  Contact Maggie Buck at 203-264-0462 to register, obtain more information, or e-mail equinehusband@aol.com with your intentions to attend the series.

The planned sessions are as follows:

February 13-composting, garden preparation, and starting seeds under grow-lights

February 27-choice of seeds for planting

March 13-outdoor and container planting

March 27-round table discussion of topics to be chosen by attendees

April 10-pest control-weeds, insects and larger animal pests
